The Job Meta Field widget is a flexible tool designed to display specific pieces of information about jobs on your WordPress site using Matador Jobs. This widget can be used to showcase various job details, such as location, job type, category, salary, and more. The widget is designed to automatically detect the job’s WordPress ID when used in typical contexts, like within a loop on an archive page or on a single job page. However, when the widget is used outside these contexts, you will need to manually specify the job’s ID to ensure the correct information is displayed.
Content Settings
Display Method
This setting determines how the job ID is handled:
- Inherit from Context: Choose this option if the widget is used in a context where the job’s WordPress ID can be automatically detected, such as within a job listing loop or on a job single page.
- Specify Job’s ID: Select this option if the widget is placed in a context where the job’s ID needs to be manually entered. This ensures the correct job information is displayed when the widget is used outside typical job contexts.
Job ID
This field appears when “Specify Job’s ID” is selected under Display Method. Enter the WordPress ID of the job whose information you want to display. This is necessary when the widget cannot automatically detect the job’s ID.
Job Meta Field
This setting allows you to choose which piece of job information to display. The widget provides several default options, including:
- Location: Displays the job’s location.
- City: Shows the city where the job is located.
- State: Shows the state or region for the job.
- Country: Displays the country where the job is based.
- ATS Job ID: Displays the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) job ID.
- Employment Type: Shows the type of employment, such as full-time, part-time, or contract.
- Category: Displays the job category.
- Salary: Shows the salary information for the job.
Custom Meta Key
If you select “Custom” under the Job Meta Field setting, this field allows you to specify the meta key for the job information you want to display. This is particularly useful if you are using custom fields or extensions like the Job Object Customizer for Matador Jobs. In that case, the meta key should correspond to the value in the ‘Import Field’ column on the settings page for this extension.
Style Settings
Fully Customizable Styles:
The widget inherits styles from your WordPress theme by default. However, if the default styles don’t match your design needs, you can fully customize the appearance of the Job Meta Field widget. This includes adjusting fonts, colors, spacing, and other CSS properties, ensuring that the widget integrates seamlessly with your site’s design.
Use Cases
- Displaying Job Location on Archive Pages:
Use the Job Meta Field widget to display the location of jobs within a job listing archive. This provides users with quick access to key information, helping them identify jobs in their preferred locations. - Showcasing Employment Type on Job Single Pages:
On individual job pages, use the widget to highlight the employment type (e.g., full-time, part-time), giving users a clear understanding of the job’s terms.
Custom Job Information in Non-Standard Locations:
If you’re placing the widget in a non-standard location, such as a custom sidebar or footer, and using custom fields, you can specify the job’s ID and custom meta key to display unique job information. This flexibility allows you to present job details in various sections of your site as needed.
