Job Description Elementor Widget

The Job Description widget is designed for displaying job descriptions on your WordPress site using Matador Jobs. This widget can be employed in various contexts, such as on archive pages to display excerpts of job descriptions, or on a job’s single page to show the full job description. Depending on the context in which the widget is used, it may automatically detect the job’s WordPress ID. However, when used outside typical job contexts, you will need to manually specify the job’s ID to ensure the correct description is displayed.

Content Settings

Display Method

This setting determines how the job ID is handled:

  • Inherit from Context: Select this option when the widget is used in a context where the job’s WordPress ID can be automatically detected, such as within a job listing loop or on a job single page.
  • Specify Job’s ID: Choose this option if the widget is placed in a context where the job’s ID needs to be manually entered. This ensures the correct job description is displayed when the widget is used outside typical job contexts.

Job ID

This field appears when “Specify Job’s ID” is selected under Display Method. Enter the WordPress ID of the job whose description you want to display. This is necessary when the widget cannot automatically detect the job’s ID.

Job Description Length

This setting allows you to control how much of the job description is shown:

  • Excerpt: The default setting, which displays a short excerpt of the job description (160 characters).
  • Full: This option displays the entire job description, ideal for use on single job pages where users expect to see detailed information.
  • Custom: Select this option if you want to display a specific number of characters from the job description. This is useful when you need more control over how much content is shown.

Number of Characters to Display

When “Job Description Length” is set to Custom, this field is used to specify the exact number of characters from the job description that will be displayed. This allows you to tailor the content to fit within specific design or layout constraints.

Style Settings

Fully Customizable Styles:

The widget inherits styles from your WordPress theme by default. However, if the default styles don’t align with your design preferences, you can fully customize the appearance of the Job Description widget. This includes adjusting fonts, colors, spacing, and other CSS properties to ensure that the widget integrates seamlessly with your site’s design.

Use Cases

  1. On Archive Pages:
Use the Job Description widget to display excerpts of job descriptions within job listing archives. This gives users a preview of each job, encouraging them to click through to the full listing for more details.
  2. On Single Job Pages:
Display the full job description using this widget on individual job pages. This is ideal for providing users with all the necessary details about a job in one place.
  3. Outside Typical Job Contexts:
If you’re placing the widget in a non-standard location, such as a custom sidebar or footer, you can specify the job’s ID and control how much of the description is shown. This flexibility allows you to feature job descriptions in different sections of your site as needed.
